Job: Associate Instructor/cosmetology

The Maricopa Skill Center, a Division of Gateway Community College is currently accepting applications for an associate instructor at its Cutting Edge Style Academy. The Cutting Edge Style Academy instructs high school students in the field of cosmetology. This is a full time position with benefits.

LOCATION: 7565 W. Peoria Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85345
HOURS: Monday through Friday 11:30am to 8:00pm with alternating Saturdays. Saturday shift is 8:00am to 5:00pm. Weeks including Saturdays have reduced work schedule for Monday through Friday.
SALARY: $30,357 to $36,049 DOE w/benefits.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
To deliver high quality training that prepares students for jobs in industry, to ensure curriculum is current with industry standards, to work with professional organizations associated with the instructional subject area, to perpetually improve instructional methodology, to assist with curriculum develop, assess student learning and participate in program reviews. Attend various center and or District meetings, and act as a resource on applicable program advisory councils.

DUTIES:
Instructs students in the use of proper techniques and procedures in a specific skill area with the goal being the students’ reaching of the prescribed competencies; reviews work and evaluates progress; identifies problems and makes recommendations regarding the ability of student to successfully complete the selected program 75%
Keeps current and accurate records of students’ progress and attendance in the fashion prescribed by MSC 10%
Responds to requests for student information in an effective and timely fashion 5%
Performs other duties as assigned As required.

MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. An example of this would be a degree or certificate in the instructional subject area, teaching or related work experience. A current AZ Cosmetology Instructor License is required. Valid Class D Arizona* Drivers License required.

*Valid out of state drivers license accepted to meet minimum qualifications however, successful candidate will be required to obtain an Arizona Drivers License upon hire.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Twelve or more months teaching at a cosmetology school, preferred
Office skills at a standard usage level to meet the duties of the position
Microsoft Office experience, preferred
