POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for maintaining highly reliable and cost effective iSeries systems operations in support of business critical processes and applications. The scope of this position includes collaboration and participation with all MIS Infrastructure core components; furthermore, the iSeries Administrator will have broad responsibilities for maintaining and operating all iSeries related systems in support of end-user access, performance, and stability.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to provide general guidelines and parameters for the job and are not intended to be a comprehensive, detailed description of the job.

iSeries Systems Performance on all iSeries
partitions including High Availability iSeries.

*Proficient with the use of System partitioning on an iSeries.

*Strong knowledge of System mirroring (preferably using Vision Solution Software)

*Extremely Proficient with System Performance tuning.

*Excellent System problem Diagnoses skills on both Hardware and Software.

*Strong Knowledge of WAS Application Server on the iSeries.

*Strong administrative knowledge of MQ on the iSeries

iSeries Systems Maintenance

*Proficient at Installing Operating systems upgrades on a multi-partitioned iSeries.

*Proficient at determining and acquiring from IBM system upgrades and Hot Fix PTFs.

*Proficient at developing and enhancing the Backup Strategy, and Validation there in, on all iSeries Partitions.

*Proficient at moving Resources from one Partition to another.

*Houskeeping - ensuring that obsolete objects: libraries, files, spool files, user profiles, data areas, data queues, printers etc., are removed from the systems.

*Monitor for 3rd party software updates (new releases), as they become available, And Installing any 3rd party PTF's required for software updates.

iSeries Systems Security

*Monitor and revise Security access both System and Users

*Knowledge of ISeries menu creation & authorities using IBM APD System

*Troubleshooting userid problems

*Ability to create CL programs to automate system Functions

*Strong ability to Control Jobs

*ISeries system & device configuration

*Performs other related duties as assigned.

*Bachelor's Degree Preferred
*10+ years iSeries or AS/400 experience
*Demonstrate good communication and strong leadership and project management skills
*Excellent verbal & written communication skills
*Some evening & weekend work may be required
